Most advanced Cardology students are familiar with special relationship connections such as the Same Birth Card, Same Planetary Ruling Card, Karma Card, Karma Cousin Card, Birth Card to Planetary Ruling Card, and Power Card connections. In this article, I’d like to introduce the Same Planets Card connection.
What is the Same Planets Card Connection?
The Same Planets Card (SPC) connection is when two cards share the same planets by column and row in the Life or Spiritual Spread, but just in reverse. Before I get into it, here are some things to know about these type of connections.
Cards in the Crown Line or Cards With the Same Planets by Row and Column Have No SPC
The Q♥, K♣, 9♥, 10♦, 6♥, 7♦, and 3♥ in the Life Spread and the 10♠, 8♠, 7♦, Q♣, 4♣, 9♥ and A♥ in the Spiritual Spread have no SPC Connection because they are the only cards that occupy that particular space by column and row. Since the cards in the Crown Line have a column but no other row, they also have no SPC.
The K♠, 9♥ and 7♦ are the Only Cards That Have No SPC in Both Spreads
The K♠ is a fixed card and in the crown line, so it stays in the same place in both spreads and therefore has no SPC connection in either spreads. Since the 9♥ and 7♦ sit in the Sat/Sat and Ven/Ven they have no SPC connection. They would only have each other as the underlined card in either spread. So that leaves only two fixed cards (J♥/8♣) and two semi-fixed cards (2♥/A♣) that have SPC connections and I'm not sure yet what this all means. If you have any ideas, I’d love to hear them.
All Same Planets Card Connections are Mutual Connections
By the nature of these connections, they are all mutual; however, not all mutual connections are SPC connections. This is interesting and probably one of the reasons this type of connection has been over looked because they are essentially already covered as mutual connections. I began to realize the importance of this type of connection when I noticed many significant relationships in my life with this connection. I'll get more into that in a minute, but for now, I'll just say that SPC connections to me are a cross between a Karma Card and Same Birth Card connection. Since these are all mutual connections, there isn't the karmic debt energy; however, because they share the same planets there is some form of “mirroring” going on and mostly when it comes to the expression of masculine and feminine energy and/or gender roles.
Same Planets Card Connections Link Cards That are in Different Neighborhoods in a Significant Way
While Robert Camp has stated that most relationship connections are in the same neighborhood, a SPC connection theoretically makes it possible for two cards in totally different neighborhoods in the Life and Spiritual Spread to be connected in a significant way.
Observations and Examples
It seems like we attract SPC relationships when we have recently incarnated into a male or female body, after having been the opposite for a period of time. This makes sense because you have the same planets involved, but now it's like the polar axis has shifted with them being reversed. It's almost as if we are learning from the other how to be more effective in our new roles. Or you can say we are learning how to take on the characteristics of being more feminine or masculine, no matter what gender we are and to become more comfortable AND effective in that role, despite the pressure of society's expected gender role play.
Here is a perfect example. I was born Dec. 10th and that makes me a 8♣, in the Mars/Nep position in both the Life and Spiritual Spread. My ex-husband was born April 6th and that gives him a 2♠ BC and 6♠ PRC. His BC is in the Nep/Mars position in the Life Spread and his PRC is in the Nep/Mars position in the Spiritual Spread. So that is a double whammy! He always complained that my energy was too masculine and that I needed to learn to be more feminine. But at the same time, I always thought his energy was too masculine and that he needed to learn more “feminine” ways, especially when it came to business where he could be too pushy and hard. It's ironic, because the things I judged him about in his business relations, I could have used “a little” in my own business dealings (especially with Chiron in Aries). Also, his judgments of my masculinity and my need to “tone it down” could have been pointing to his own need to “tone it down” with the masculine energy in certain areas of his own life.
Another example is with my mother and father. My Cancer father was born July 17th and his BC is the J♣ in the Ura/Ven position in the Life Spread. My Libra mother was born Sept. 26th, and her PRC was the 9♠ in the Ven/Ura position in the Life Spread. My mother was the bread winner of the family and had all the ambition and degrees to boot. My father, on the other hand (with the Q♠ as his PRC), seemed content working menial jobs for low pay, which caused him to think my mom had no need for him, so he started to drink and mess around with other women. My mother finally left him (as you know 9♠ have no problem raising children on their own). But what is also interesting is the relationship between my Libra mother and my Libra brother born Oct. 14th. In astrology, it's said that Libra women tend to act more masculine and the Libra men are more feminine in certain ways. Well sure enough, my mother's BC is the J♥ in the Ven/Jup position in the Life Spread and my brother's PRC is the 4♠ in the Jup/Ven position of the Life Spread. Of all my brothers, he is the only one that followed in my father's footsteps by attracting a wife (Leo sun sign) that is the main bread winner and makes most the decisions in the household.
My last example has to do with the couple that I house sit for in Mexico. This is a great example because they have been married for over 40 years and have weathered the storm and came out on top of what this relationship had to teach them. The Scorpio female was born on Oct. 25th and her BC is the 10♥ in the Ven/Mars position of the Spiritual Spread. The Gemini male was born May 29th and his BC is the 3♣ in the Mars/Ven position of the Spiritual Spread. What is interesting in this relationship is that for the majority of the relationship, the female had a very successful business (art gallery) and was the main bread winner as well. But by the time I met the couple (now in their 60s), she had long since sold the business and he is now the one working to support them. It's also interesting that he used to do construction work while she was the main bread winner and now that the roles have changed, he has since started over in a new career as a nurse! Although he likes to play a “macho” role by seeming to be a “man's man” around others, when I asked him what made him choose a career as a nurse, he said it brings him great joy (and apparently great luck because he worked as a home health nurse to a very wealthy older couple that paid generously). In this relationship, you can clearly see how gender roles are an issue; however, it has allowed them to understand and appreciate each other in a way that really seems to be working now.
Ideas On What to Look For
Here are some ideas of what to look for in couples that you may know with this type of connection. These ideas are just suggestions that haven't fully been proven in any way; however, it stands to reason based on my observations that they may prove to be fruitful.
1. What Type of Relative Connection Is It?
First, determine what type of mutual connection it is. If there are three spaces between them, then it would be a Mars mutual connection, fours spaces would make it a Jupiter mutual connection and so on.
2. Look at What Cards Are Between Them
Sometimes, the cards that lie in between the connection can add to the story and give the reader an idea of what some of the issues in the relationship would be and point to the strengths to be accentuated and/or the weaknesses to overcome.
3. Look at the Underlined Cards to Get More of the Story
Looking at the cards that occupy the same spaces in the Life or Spiritual Spreads may give insight or point to a person's karma card or planetary ruling card involved in the relationship.
4. If There is a Moon Card Connection, Look to See How The Energy Is Being Expressed
If a person is attracting someone who is their sun and they don't want to lead or if one person is supposed to be the moon to the other person, but would rather lead, this also adds to the equation.
5. Using Astrology, Look to see if Pluto is in the 4th or 10th House of Either Person
Evolutionary astrologers have a theory that when a person has Pluto in the 10th or 4th house there has been a recent gender switch from a lifetime of being male, to being female and vice versa. For instance, I have Pluto in my 10th house and I definitely can relate to possibly being male in a past life. I also have a Saturn/Moon separating conjunction which add to it. As I grow older, I am learning the benefits of being more “feminine,” but for me the lesson has been to do this in a way where self-love and an honoring of my life path mission is present. In truth, we are neither male or female, but just expressions of G.O.D. experiencing Itself via creation. Yet, the gender roles we take on and the lessons centered around them give us the opportunity to serve as role models in stewarding the shifts of consciousness at different ages and stages in the earth's evolution. I hope this article helps us to see how certain relationships in our lives are there to help us learn that these type of connections even exist and to avoid the conflict and pain that arises from a lack of understanding.
